CB3 Radios dropping off MT wireless registration table

Fri Oct 08, 2004 9:35 pm

I viewed a couple of posts where people were having issues with CB3 radios dropping off of the MikroTik wireless registration table.

I am using a CB3 as a client to connect to a MT router... from the CB3 I have a cross-over cable to my MAC OSX laptop. I power up the CB3 and it associates with the MT router and I can see the CB3 in the MT router wireless registration table. After a few minutes, the MT drops the CB3 from the registration table listing. If I ping the MT router from my laptop, the association will pick back up and sure enough I see the CB3 in the MT wireless registration table. If the CB3 is not in the MT registration table and I attempt to ping my laptop from the MT router I get timeouts.... as you would expect. All the while, the CB3 thinks it is still associated to the MT router/AP.

Has anyone found a fix for this issue or found an explaination...??

Thanks,

CB3 drop outs

No, I have not found a fix, but I have found a few work arounds.

We use WisperMapper to watch our network. I set the polling interval to 10 secs for all CB3s. Most CB3 now stay associated all the tim.

I also upgraded to 2.8.16 and that helped. The problem got worse on my Routerboards with the prizm 802.11b PCIMIA cards. So bad I had to replace the PCIMIA card with a mini PCI radio. Talk about a pain. However, once I went to the 2.8.16, new wireless package, and the mini-PCI it worked much better. This makes me think it is the Mikrotik software not he CB3s.

Sorry, I do not have a complete solution. Please let me know of you find on.
