hAP AC lite (952Ui-5ac2nD) - no phone can see 5GHz ac

Sat Oct 01, 2016 8:38 am

Hi guys, I am a bit clueless already and would be thankful for any help! On hAP AC lite I am not able to detect 5GHz network with any phone (tried a few Android phones Samsung S7 edge, Sony Xperia Z3C etc..) but all macbooks are able to detect it and even connect easily so it is working for laptops which is confusing. I tried different bands, channels, frequencies with no luck. Now running on ROS v6.37 (previously 6.34). Current wireless setup is:
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] band=5ghz-onlyac channel-width=20/40mhz-eC \
country="czech republic" disabled=no distance=indoors frequency=5240 \
mode=ap-bridge ssid=MikroTik-43E16F wireless-protocol=802.11

channel-width=20/40mhz-eC
set it to 20/40MHz-Ce, or even better to channel-width=20/40/80mhz-Ceee. Your devices don't understand non-standard center frequencies.

Thank you very much for your reply. I already tried to change channel width but it did not help. I tried also different countries, channels (36, 40 etc.), bands... I have two Macbooks and Motorola MOTO X phone able to connect normally but Samsung Galaxy S6 and Sony Xperia Z3C still cant even detect the network :/ Is there any other setup that could affect this?

Current setup is:
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] ampdu-priorities=0,1 band=5ghz-onlyac \
channel-width=20/40/80mhz-Ceee country="czech republic" disabled=no \
distance=indoors mode=ap-bridge ssid=MikroTik-43E16F \
wireless-protocol=802.11

try using 20mhz channels, a/n/ac mode and the following frequencies:
channel frequency
149 5745 mhz
153 5765 mhz
157 5785 mhz
161 5805 mhz

it can be possible but can be a bad idea because low gain of antenna on 5ghz, ptmp cpe radios normally have at least 10dbi antenna gain, improving signal and reducing noise

Hi all, my problem is simillar as above. I have:

board-name:
cAP ac, model: RouterBOARD cAP Gi-5acD2nD, firmware-type: ipq4000L, factory-firmware: 3.43, current-firmware: 6.42.6, upgrade-firmware: 6.42.6

and wlan configured as follow:
name="wlan2" mtu=1500 l2mtu=1600 mac-address=CC:2D:E0:1B:66:C7 arp=enabled interface-type=IPQ4019 mode=ap-bridge ssid="RU_Host_01_5G" frequency=5180 band=5ghz-a/n/ac channel-width=20/40/80mhz-Ceee secondary-channel="" scan-list=default wireless-protocol=802.11.

Country is set to Czech republic, where I live. My mobile is Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Only frequency what is working is 5180. When I swicth to different frequency, the mobile phone does not see this 5GHz network. I tried change the channel-width to something different, but not sucessful. At home I am using the Asus DSL-AC68U, and there is channel set to number 100 what should be the 5500MHz. Channel width is set to 20/40/80. My phone is working well at home and my network is visible and I am able to connect to the internet. When I set this frequency on Mikrotik, the network is not visible. What could be wrong? Thank you for help.

I recently encountered similar issue caused by cheap Realtek wifi chip in Lenovo E580.
This chips ET had limited range of supported 5GHz frequencies, thus making wifi invisible if you had 80MHz channel and different frequency than 5180MHz.
Please, check what frequencies are supported by your phone/chipset. It may be hard to find but if you get to manufacturers datasheet, it should be specified.

Try to lock it to 20mhz channel with 5180/5500 frequency.
Try to use "Join network" in you phone using your ssid and password, if the network isn't visible, doesn't mean it hasn't detected it.
If above options doesn't do much, i would try to create a hotspot from both of the phones and see what frequency and band they are using and from then try to troubleshoot the issue. ( hotspot may create 2.4Ghz network, but maybe it will give more information about the issue, why it can't connect. )

I locked the channel-width to 20MHz, and it seems to be trick for channel 5500Mhz. Reported network speed decreased from 390Mbit to 120Mbit. I tried to change to the different channels than 5180 and 5500 and the situation is not so clear, because still lot of them does not work. I created profile with password to this network on my phone, so when i change frequency, I wait if the phone associate with this AP or not and if not I check the 5GHz band by Wifi Analyzer App and it shows there is no AP transmiting at 5GHz. At the same place I have my old laptop with centrino 6205 chipset, and does not matters what I set on mikrotik, 5G network is still visible. I have found the thread at xda developers forum about Mate 10 Pro and 5GHz network, where some users reported same issue as I have. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-1 ... m-t3722236
Today evening I will try different frequencies at my home router to check, if there will be same problem. If you have any suggestion what I could try, let me know. thanks a lot.

Is there a chance that those phone's that can't connect has been locked to a specific area?
I can't find much information about galaxy s6 wireless module, but all for what i know, my galaxy s7 do support connections to 5ghz band, 40mhz channel width, with 5180/5500/5800 freq.

I think no. My phone is from official market, so I think its not locked for different area, Yesterday evening I did some test with my Asus router. I tried all 5GHz channels one by one, There is this set of channels available to select. 36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64,100,104,108,112,116,132,136,140. I changed channel and tried to connect to the network. Channel-width stayed at 20/40/80Mhz. At every channel my mobile was able to connect to the network and the network was visible. So I think there is something wrong in Mikrotik or its incompatibility between my phone and Mikrotik products. Last what I can do is to do tests with different product from Mikrotik and with different mobile phone.

Very sorry that it is still not be fixed. I bought a new mikrotik router and my family android phones don't work with it in the 5 GHz band. At the same time, there is no such problem with the Huawei LTE modem router.

Is country set correctly? Also, allow ~5 mins for radar scan sometimes.

Those are the available channels if country is set correctly:
.
[admin@MktwAPac] /interface wireless info> country-info "czech republic"
  ranges: 2402-2482/b,g,gn20,gn40(20dBm)
          2417-2457/g-turbo(20dBm)
          5170-5250/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(23dBm)/passive,indoor
          5170-5330/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(20dBm)/dfs,passive,indoor
          5250-5330/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(20dBm)/dfs,passive,indoor
          5490-5710/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(27dBm)/dfs,passive
          5190-5310/a-turbo(20dBm)/dfs
          5180-5300/a-turbo(20dBm)/dfs
          5520-5680/a-turbo(27dBm)/dfs,passive
          5510-5670/a-turbo(27dBm)/dfs,passive
          902-927/b,g,g-turbo,gn20,gn40(30dBm)
.
In general:
If "installation=indoors" is used then the "outdoor" frequencies are not available
Use installation=any if the device is installed indoor, to allow all frequencies that are actually allowed indoor. (this includes the outdoor freq !)
However the "czech republic" table for MT is correct, "outdoor" is not specified here, but other countries are not that lucky!

Don't forget that DFS channels remain mute for 1 full minute. (Status= scanning for radar", no signal is sent, AP invisible)
The weather channels 120-124-128 are even a FULL 10 minutes "scanning for radars". And waiting for 10 minutes is a long long time.
With 80 MHz wide channels the changes of having one of them in that wide channel, make it happen more often than expected !!!
