hAP lite - unresetable after switch-vlan config

Thu Dec 08, 2016 4:43 am

Hi,

I have a very strange behavior (with two hAP lite's - so it's not an one-time-effect...)

I was "playing" around with VLANs on the switch of the hAP and tried to tag/untag some ports to get a bit more performance...
Of course I've failed - no problem, I've made a backup before playing around - so reset it and try again.

But the problem is no matter how I do it, I don't get the hAP back to factory defaults, where you get the unencrypted-WIFI to set it up from scratch.

Before playing around with the VLANs - I had no problem resetting the hAP... (On the second device I've done this by purpose (as the first one failed to reset before) multiple times)

What I've done:
  • Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 5 seconds till "ACT" blinks - release Reset
    Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 5 seconds till "ACT" blinks - remove Power
    Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 10 seconds till "ACT" is constantly active - release Reset
    Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 10 seconds till "ACT" is constantly active - remove Power
    Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 15 seconds till "ACT" is off - release Reset
    Remove power - press Reset - Plug power back again - wait about 15 seconds till "ACT" is off - remove Power
After every step I waited around 3 to 5 minutes that the router can boot properly - to see ht Mikrotik-MACADD - WIFI but nothing helped

I've also tried to use NetBoot but without any success - the hAP seems to don't likes to get an ip so no request reaches the NetBoot Software :-(

Frustrated to have fried two devices I put my hopes in this post - maybe someone had similar issues and with a lot of luck I can get my hAP's back to life again :-)

Hope someone can help me with this issue

Thanks
Björn

Little udpate:
I can see the hAP lite from
ip neighbor print
fe80::6e3b:6bff:fe48:334e               6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E
address=fe80::6e3b:6bff:fe48:334e address6=fe80::6e3b:6bff:fe48:334e mac-address=6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E identity="MikroTik" platform="MikroTik" version="6.33.5 (stable)" unpack=none age=58s uptime=24m23s software-id="PN7Q-NFU6" board="RB941-2nD" ipv6=yes interface-name="ether2"
I only see a link-local IPv6 address - no ipv4.
All other details look normal, expect the missing initial setup.

When I try to MAC-Telnet to the MAC of the hAP lite (from the directly connected switch) I'll get dropped out directly:
/tool mac-telnet 6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E
Login: admin
Password:
Trying 6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E...
Connected to 6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E

Welcome back!
pinging the host via ipv6 is also not working
ping fe80::6e3b:6bff:fe48:334e interface=vlan1
  SEQ HOST SIZE TTL TIME STATUS
    0 fe80::6e3b:6bff:fe48:334e                               timeout

pinging via mac - works seemless
/ping 6C:3B:6B:48:33:4E

    sent=4 received=8 packet-loss=-100% min-rtt=1ms avg-rtt=2ms max-rtt=10ms
I've tried to use some old passwords I've been using but also no luck.

Any ideas? should I contact the mikrotik-support directly?

Thanks in advance

Directly connected the hAP lite to my laptop and connected me with winbox to the box - restored backed up configuration....

Pretty sad, that your f**cked up without windows...
