Microtik R11e-LTE-US set up

Sat Apr 14, 2018 1:22 am

Is there a set up guide for this Microtik R11e-LTE-US device? I'm not trying to do anything crazy, just connect the modem to the lte signal/internet.

I know there is signal here. I have tried several sim cards thru two different companies and the scanner picks up the various signals, but I can't ever get it to connect to the internet. I reset the device completely, and now, it seems to be doing some squirley things. I put in apn info, click apply config, go to lte scanner, click start and it gives error message that it can't run the scan because the device has not been configured.(6).

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Same thing on this side, too (RB11e-LTE, non-US):
Couldn't start - modem is not configured yet (6)
In interface/status I get:
Image

RB is 912UAG-2HPnD (BaseBox 2)
Tried on ROS 6.40.7 and 6.41.4
Installed the extra LTE package. No change.

I tried to set "ignore directIP modems" in system/ports/firmware to use it with conventional PPP.
The usb port shows up with 2 channels, but no AT commands are possible in serial terminal (and modem is of course not working).
I checked the RB11e card in an APU3 box, and it is working (2 serial ports, AT accessible on second port).

A Fibocom HSPA+ 3G modem on the same routerboard works as expected.

[support ticket sent Ticket#2018041522001201]

Rant: It is lovely to sell a device that does not work with your own products, and sell it without providing a user manual, and here I mean a documented AT command set. So that at leas we can use these LTE modems in other devices, because we payed money for them...

The modem seems to fail a certain command, AT*MRD_SN? which aborts the whole setup process and retries the sequence between the "no responses" endlessly:

At some point it even starts the connection setup process failing on AT+CSQ:

This seems to me to be a serial USB driver issue on this specific board. I had a similar problem with a ublox GPS on a RB922 (it loaded the EHCI instead of the OHCI driver on that board), which was solved at some point after a ticket, but reemerged later on.

I bought a wAP LTE Kit with the R11e-LTE non US (RBwAPR-2nD&R11e-LTE) and I'm having this same problem - couldn't start - modem isn't configured yet (6)
I've updated it to the newest current version 6.42.7, released on 2018-Aug-17.

Does anyone have any info on the solution? There's little to no info available. I'm considering on calling the store and return this.
Tx

EDIT: I guess the solution was to post here to find the solution right after :?
I first enabled the lte logging.
Then I noticed that I was getting several log entries with CME Error :10
The error means the SIM card wasn't properly inserted in the slot. It's one of those cards that comes already cut out for micro and nano slots but it was somehow not working. I used a nano>standard sim card adapter, rebooted and it started working.
