Unable to upgrade

Thu May 24, 2018 4:45 pm

Hello,

My current CRS125-24G-1S has firmware version 6.42rc52. I was trying upgrade to 6.42.2 or 6.43rc17 but it didn't succeed. System reboots but still with old firmware and there is nothing in the logs. System has 66% of free in disks. What could cause this? How do I fix it?

First, I assume you mean OS version, not firmware.

Given that you have provided absolutely no details, file names, or screenshots, I have to take a stab in the dark. Are you loading upgrade packages for the correct CPU architecture of your router? If you load packages for the wrong CPU, they will just get ignored or discarded.

Sorry about wrong terms I used.. What I was doing is clicking dowload&install from quickset as specified in this wiki page https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:U ... ic_upgrade . There is nowhere any log entry or anything that it would fail but version number just doesn't change after router downloads, installs and reboots. Could it be possible that quickset auto upgrade would download incorrect files?

try system packages --> check for updates

dont install RC versions in production devices

If you need to go to previous version you have to manually download .npk file form https://mikrotik.com/download and copy it to files, then go to system packages and click downgrade

After you download, the packages should appear in /files. Verify this. After you reboot, are those packages still in /files, or are they gone?

Could it be that some kind of malware is blocking routeros update?

I was able to upgrade RouterOS via Netinstall but Routerboard firmware fails to upgrade.

Any ideas how should I proceed?

After some reboots and re-try, routerboard has been upgraded. Finally. Case closed.
