v6.42.6 [current]

Thu Jul 12, 2018 12:16 pm

RouterOS version 6.42.6 has been released in public "current" channel!

Before an upgrade:
1) Remember to make backup/export files before an upgrade and save them on another storage device;
2) Make sure the device will not lose power during upgrade process;
3) Device has enough free storage space for all RouterOS packages to be downloaded.

What's new in 6.42.6 (2018-Jul-06 11:56):

*) bridge - improved packets processing when bridge port changes states;
*) crs3xx - fixed bonding slave failover when packets are sent out of the bridge interface;
*) crs3xx - fixed LACP member failover;
*) crs3xx - improved link state detection when one side has disabled interface;
*) defconf - fixed bridge default configuration for SOHO devices with more than 9 Ethernet interfaces;
*) package - free up used storage space consumed by old RouterOS upgrades;
*) snmp - fixed w60g "phy-rate" readings;
*) supout - added "ip-cloud" section to supout file;
*) w60g - fixed random disconnects;
*) w60g - general stability and performance improvements;
*) winbox - added 64,8 GHz frequency to w60g interface frequency settings;
*) winbox - show "sector-writes" on devices that have such counters;

To upgrade, click "Check for updates" at /system package in your RouterOS configuration interface, or head to our download page: http://www.mikrotik.com/download

If you experience version related issues, then please send supout file from your router to support@mikrotik.com. File must be generated while router is not working as suspected or after some problem has appeared on device

Please keep this forum topic strictly related to this concrete RouterOS release.

If you router has a storage issue (not enough space due to RouterOS, not by other files stored on the device), use package from this link:
https://www.mikrotik.com/download/share/fix_space.npk
- upload package to your router;
- run /system reboot

Other affected installations will be fixed automatically, if there is enough space left for an upgrade by this fix:
"package - free up used storage space consumed by old RouterOS upgrades"

Updated CRS326-24G-2S+ from firmware v6.42.3 to 6.42.6

update went fine but after the update process ether24 en ether23 aren't working anymore. They give link negotiate speed ect. but no mac address what so ever. Both port where trunk ports one has a WAP AC on it and the other a Cisco Switch.

Moving the devices and config to none used port everything works fine. I'm stunned at what this can be.

I removed config from ether23 and 24 disabled them rebooted switch. Redid config and still nothing no mac address nothing. Same config on ether 21 and 22 and link is fine mac addresses en traffic flow as expected. weird problem.

If anyone seen this before and has a tip how to fix this would be nice.

Have you upgraded not only RouterOS but also the firmware (/system routerboard upgrade, requires another reboot)?
Instead of writing novels, post /export hide-sensitive. Use find&replace in your favourite text editor to systematically replace all occurrences of each public IP address potentially identifying you by a distinctive pattern such as my.public.ip.1.

Hi sindy, Thanks for the reply and input. Yeah routerboard firmware is also upgraded to V6.42.6. Always do that after a RouterOS update.

Fusionyx - Please send supout file from your router to support@mikrotik.com. What do you mean by "no MAC address"? Have you tried to downgrade device to see that it works again and upgrade once more to see that problem appears back again?
informant - The underlying issue could lead up to different types of problems, however, in most cases it was an unexpected reboot.

Hi strods,

I will create a spout file and will send it to support@mikrotik.com

I tried downgrade but during the boot it says not enough space to resume and reboot in the firmware v6.42.6

By no mac-address i mean i can't see any mac address of the device connected to the link on those ports. So from the WAP AC and or the Cisco Switch.

Thanks for the support and help so far!

Will this morning i just connected the WAP AC and cisco switch back to the old ports Ether 23 and ether 24 no config change since yesterday and everything work again. Must have been something scewed up that is now cleared by time i assume. checked all logs ect nothing to find i'm happy that it works again but i hate it when i can't tell how it's fixed or what was wrong :)

Will try to update more devices this weekend and see what i encounter.

Thanks for the patient read and help so far to those that did.

WinBox v3.16.

Where is the information on the write sectors?

Previously, it was shown in WinBox, now only in the console:
In my case sector write counters reappeared in Resources window after I reopened it in Winbox.

Device: hEX
Winbox: 3.16
ROS & FW: 6.42.5

Here is what I did:
1) Opened Resources window before the update (counters are there)
2) Upgraded ROS (6.42.5 -> 6.42.6) and FW (6.42.5 -> 6.42.6) then rebooted the device.
3) Resources window did not display the counters. I closed and opened Resources window and counters reappeared.

Don't know if this is 6.42.6 related but it struck my eye after the upgrade:

We have now CCQ rates better then 100%!!! That is good! But impossible imho.

Also, on a 2,4Ghz AP most CPE's (mikrotik and 3rd party) connect with 1 chain only where there is ample difference in signal over the both chains.... how come? This was never the case!

After the upgrade to .6 winbox started to behave strange. Normally while router reboots the connection is lost and has to be made again. Now windows sometimes stay open (like in the 'old' days) and when closed and opened again some sub windows don't show all info or have to be move to get the info showing or router disconnects again. Its very erratic and at random. Apart from that so far not seen issues..

v6.42.6

Factory Firmware 3.41
Current Firmware 3.41
Upgrade Firmware 6.42.6

Mine won't upgrade ether.
If I press "upgrade" it says "Do you really want to upgrade firmware?" and if I press "yes", nothing happens.

WirelessRudy, CZFan - Please contact support@mikrotik.com regarding this problem and provide supout file.
akinola1400 - Upgrade will keep your current configuration. However, before an upgrade read all of the changelogs between your current version and one that you want to install on your router. Changelog can point out that configuration will change.
sincity - What error do you get in log after an upgrade attempt?
WirelessRudy, ckleea - Most likely problem is caused by Winbox not by RouterOS. Downgrade to Winbox v3.13 and see if problem goes away.

MikroTik RB750Gr3 v6.42.6
Have a problem with "Client ID" in "IP - DHCP Server - Leases".
When I change Client ID in static lease from generated "1:0: b:82:48:a3:c9" to custom, for example "Phone", DHCP server gives IP-address from pool, not the one that I write. If I change it back to generated, all work fine.

Echinus - Request must match parameters configured on lease. DHCP client sends request with different client-id so lease does not match and dynamic IP is assigned. This is how it is supposed to work and also there are no changes introduced in this version regarding DHCP and client-id parameter:

What's new in 6.42.6 (2018-Jul-06 11:56):
*) w60g - fixed random disconnects;
*) w60g - general stability and performance improvements;
Disconnects (a few times per hour, started in 6.42.5, not a single one in 6.42.4) still not fixed for me, supout files sent again [Ticket#2018062622003837].

Problems with CRS317 that required active RTSP after a reboot (or no traffic....) have been solved. RTSP is off and everything is working properly.
Note: I had problems linking to an RJ45 (1gbps) module of the "MT" type, with those that start with "6", no problem.

Never had random disconnects while running 6.42.4 or 6.42.3. Today updated 7 w60g CPE units and two w60G AP's to 6.42.6 and now I am having random disconnects... :-(
I need the new frequency to make room for more 60G AP's and links but this is going backwards...

I also noticed the signal strengths (in %) went down. Not up! Some units that were associated for weeks at 150-200 meters now suddenly disconnect while just before it happens the signal falls back to 20 ......

I am watching it overnight but am afraid I have to roll back all the upgrades..... :(

Re: v6.42.6 [current]

Just send a support request to Mikrotik.
After upgrade from 6.42.3 to 6.42.6 we have weaker signals to/from clients and some don't even connect anymore.
Signals from connected clients (4 x wAP 60G) are weaker then before and variate between 65 and 30 at times.

One of the clients almost never connects any more and when it does (after a freq. change) it disconnects within minutes after signal falls back to 20 (or less)
This specific client is furthest away (148 meter) and with 6.42.3 had an up-time of 2 weeks. Now it hardly connects anymore.
The other units, closer to the AP, where very stable connected too but now still have some disconnects per day and after a frequency change it can take several minutes to connect again. This was never the case!

All units are upgraded to 6.42.6 and firmware to the same.
This new 6.42.6 ROS is NOT an improvement to the 60Ghz line of products. The 5 (4 x cpe + AP) of the support request are taken for example. But I have 3 more P2MP system and here we see exactly the same problem. Signal strengths went down. One CPE at 204 meters that previously connected fine with a wAP 60G as CPE after the upgrade could not connect anymore to the AP.
We replaced it with a LHG 60G to get the connection back! This LHG at the 203,5 meters gives a signal of 80 with RSSI of -61.

Before the upgrade to 42.6 the wAP 60G had better signal then that!

Anybody else seeing the same problems?

I have a CAPs setup with three RB951G-2HnD units (one being the CAPsMAN).

I updated from Router OS 6.42.5 to 6.42.6 (both RouterOS and RouterBOARD firmware).

I'm getting random wireless devices now doing this:
reassociating
connected
reassociating
connected
.....
(see screenshot)

Anyone else having this issue??

After a while the interface on the device (if a mobile device) we be "disabled".

Re: v6.42.6 [current]

Wed Jul 18, 2018 1:32 pm

I have the same problem as Fusionyx with a CRS328-24P-4S+. The process was as follows:

Pre upgrade
RouterOS - 6.42.4
Firmware - 6.42.4

Post upgrade
RouterOS - 6.42.6
Firmware - 6.42.6

I had 3x wAP ACs (running RouterOS and firmware 6.42.4) connected to ports 2, 3 and 4. Everything worked pre-upgrade. As soon as I performed the upgrade to the CRS328-24P-4S+, all traffic stopped on ports 2, 3, and 4. To get the wAP ACs to work again, I have had to move all 3 to new ports to get them working again. I waited 2 days to see if it would then work again on the original ports like with Fusionyx, but they still do not function.

I also attempted to move to the Release Candidate update path and back again, with no difference. I have not tried a downgrade to 6.42.4 or 6.42.5 yet.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Two problems I'm seeing with this update, if you have operating ipv6:
[admin@MikroTik] > /ping count=1 ipv6.google.com
invalid value for argument address:
    invalid value of mac-address, mac address required
    invalid value for argument ipv6-address

[admin@MikroTik] > /tool fetch url="http://ifconfig.co"

??? .co is Colombia, this URL resolves well
[admin@MikroTik] > put [resolve ifconfig.co]
185.138.35.117
[admin@MikroTik] > /tool fetch url="http://185.138.35.117/"
  status: failed
failure: connection timeout
So basically /tool fetch and /ping seem to be quite broken with ipv6.
This is all after I added a ipv6 server first at /ip dns servers, before I added it all
DNS resolution was broken. So it looks like once ipv6 is enabled, only ipv6
name resolution works...

Two problems I'm seeing with this update
Are you sure it was working in previous releases? ;)

Domain name resolves well, but URL is invalid. Valid one is "http://ifconfig.co/" (see the last slash after .co)

Can't confirm. Checked with ipv4-only DNS addresses and ipv6-only DNS addresses, resolving works fine in both cases.

Not really, new router and new tunnel. it was working for a while after I rebooted with ipv6 tunnel but now it
does not work.

The core problem, I think, is the internal resolver always asks for A records, and
also privileges IPv6 for some reason. So, when I reboot and get a new dynamic IPv4,
my IPv6 needs to be told about it, but I can't because only IPv6 resolver works and
I have no IPv6:

I'm not sure if there is a way out of this problem...

We have now rolled back all our 60Ghz devices (AP's and CPE's) to 6.42.3 just to get them stable again. Also rolled back the firmwares.
Several CPE's couldn't connect anymore in 6.42.6 due weak signal or variation in the signals. We noticed differences from 50 going back to 20 and then disconnects....

One unit (120 meters distance on the center of AP) disconnected on 6.42.6 and occasionally connected for some seconds with poor signal and only the roll back (on both AP + CPE) brought device back up stable with signal 40-45 again.....

Re: v6.42.6 [current]

We have updates some 8 AP's with anything between 8 and 30 Mikrotik CPE's connected, either a full 'ac' P2MP network or still'n'. In all networks the 802.11 mode outperforms NV2 a lot!
Overal througput on the AP is some 50 to 100% better and individual clients get much more speed.
One P2MP network we found 'nstrem' performs best, others 802.11.

Latency on these AP's might not be as good as in NV2 but good enough for the clients. We don't serve VOIP but some use Skype, facetime, messenger calls etc. and we get no complaints...

The main importance is that when clients press www.speedtest.net they get their 30Mbps. Obviously if two clients use a full download their speed lowers a bit to 25-30 and with 3 clients more. (Since it seems the Omnitiks 'n' can only produce some 60-70mbps in total where we can push the Omnitiks 'ac' up to 100Mbps or more... On NV2 people complain about slow internet and when they do a test they only get 8-12 and sometimes a bit more.....

I don't know who and or why people say NV2 is so good but in fact the more often we make tests the more often we just see 802.11 performs best...

Are you sure IPv4 is available at all at that moment? Can you ping 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8? For me it looks like you have ipv6 and no ipv4 right after reboot.

Re: v6.42.6 [current]

Hi E1uSiV3

What we did on the ports that stopped working was removing all config from them so remove the port from the vlan tags under bridge config and after that remove the ports from the bridge. We then disabled them and moved to new port. The next day we tried to see if the previous ports would work or get it working so we started by redo the old config on those port to debug but then they worked fine without problems maybe try those steps to get them to work again if possible.
