Processing untagged traffic in the presence of VLAN tags

Fri Jul 13, 2018 9:39 pm

I have a trunk with a mixture of tagged and tagged traffic. I don't control the source - I have to take the tags as I get them. How do I strip the VLANs from the feed to a bridge with just the UNtagged traffic?

Does a bridge that doesn't specify VLANs on ports strip VLAN tagged traffic?

I've pored over the Manual:Interface/VLAN page and don't see how this case is accommodated.

Thanks,
Rich

Re: Processing untagged traffic in the presence of VLAN tags  [SOLVED]

Ah! It's a hybrid port. Ok.

Missed this the first 5 times through https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Vlans_on ... nvironment

It's still not clear to me if VLAN tagged packets are dropped or just passed through when bridge VLAN filtering is off. I see that I can add a default tag to untagged traffic, but not how to leave traffic untagged.
