Help with Multicast SADP across VLAN

Tue Aug 21, 2018 1:41 pm

Hi all,

I use a SADP tool to discover Hikvision CCTV cameras on my network, it operates using Multicast UDP.
This application works fine if the PC is running from is on the same VLAN as the cameras, however if the PC is on a different VLAN it can't discover them.

IP Camera is on VLAN 40 - 10.0.40.X
PC running SADP discover application is on untagged 192.168.100.X
The PC can ping and connect to the IP camera without any problems.

I've installed the multicast package, although just a bit lost on how to configure it?
- Which interface do I add it on? Bridge / Eth2 (Trunk) / VLAN_10 / VLAN20 etc... ?
- In the interface tab do I need to enter any alternative subnets?
- RP tab I just select any gateway address allocated to my router?

Appreciate any assistance.

Thanks

Did you find a solution?

I have just started moving my (6) cameras to their own VLAN.and have the same questions.

Last night we had a 2 hr power blackout, so 5 of the 6 Annke (Hikvision) cameras made themselves 'inactive'.
I just fired up SADP and briefly saw the one camera (so far) on the new VLAN appear in the address list (10.1.30.4)

My PC and the remaining cameras are on 192.168.88.0/16

I managed to login to the 10.1.30.4 unit and activate it, but 'Refreshing' SADP removed it from the list again.

No I didn't find a solution unfortunatley,
I ended up just creating a seperate Wifi Network only associated to the VLAN my CCTV was on, then connect to that network and run the SDAP software.
Would prefer if I could get the router to allow the multicast to function correctly.

It functions properly, but it doesn't do what you think it does.

Ok, thanks, so is there a way to make it work as per my original post?
