CRS328 POE and Ubiquiti unify AP

I am considering buying a CRS328-24P switch as I would like to have POE available. I am however thoroughly confused about the MODEA/B support. I have a Ubiquiti AP-AC-lite that I would like to power. It is specified for 802.3AF/A, so mode A. Will the CRS328 power that device or does it do only mode B POE?
Thanks in advance for any hints you can give

Ok, I think I found the answer: the CRS328 uses mode B pins for POE, the Ubiquiti AP (AC-Lite and AC-LR) use for 802.3AF use mode A pins (only) but can be powered with passive POE 24V on mode B-pins. The CRS328 can power an AP using passive POE on mode B pins. Now I just need to find out how to configure the switch: I guess that I need to set low voltage and that probably will be sufficient....

Hello!

As a result, you run the Unifi AP AC Lite with 802.3af (48V) or Passive PoE (24V) with CRS328?

Mode B is used....
All MikroTik PSE uses the same PoE-Out pin polarity Mode B 4,5 (+) and 7,8 (-)

Unifi AP AC Lite receives PoE power from CRS328? No problem?

Why dont you have a look at the specs ?
So, according its specs, Unifi ap ac lite uses as well Passive PoE (Pairs 4, 5+; 7, 8 Return)...
So i guess it will work...

I read the specs, but I am interested in real experience of operating Unifi ap ac lite with CRS328.

Right, set the switch to low voltage POE and the AP-lIte will be happy. I have 2 lites running that way. I have not dared to test high voltage, although I believe that it could work. But as the CRS328 allows setting non-AF 24V why take the risk?

llag, thanks for the info!

Soon I will test 802.3AF with AC lite and report the results.

I tested ability to provide power via PoE to an Unifi AP AC Lite from CRS328
Works great both from 802.11af/at and passive!

I am still not sure that using 802.11at/af on the Mikrotik to power the AC Lite is safe: the unifi AC lite is specified for 802.af on certain wire pairs (the mode A pairs) and for 24V on the other (mode B) pairs. The pairs used by Mikrotik are the ones used by Ubiquiti for the 24V passive POE (mode B). Now I would expect the passive power of the Lite to be connected to the same power circuit as the AF/AT ones, so 48V on the mode B pairs could be ok, but I am not sure. So you better stick to 24V.

If it was only mode A compatible it wouldnt work...

CRS328 work fine with all standartised POE-devices - APs, IP CAM and other.

As long as the PD ( powered device ) works on mode B yes...
