CRS317-1G-16S+RM SFP+ 50%+ SFP+ ports Slow speed High Loss

Thu Oct 31, 2019 2:57 am

Issues:
Some SFP+ ports pull close to 10G and others cant get better then 10M with high package loss.

Trouble Shooting:
Verified good SPF+ AOC and DAC, Test with 6 new cable same results
Purchased 2nd CRS317 Issue still present but between the 2 of them the ports with issues changed
Factory default settings
Updated Firmware and OS to 6.45.7
Tech support suggested verifying "Make sure that "/interface bridge port print" shows "H" flag on the ports you are testing through." as that's default setting they are.
Tried manually setting 10G vs auto negotiate no change
Disabled all ports test one at a time no change
Pulled all my hair out no change

Hardware:
2xAquantia AQtion SFP+ NIC, 10G Ethernet Network Adapter
2xDACs
4xAOCs
2xCRS317-1G-16S+RM

Any and all suggesting welcome!!!

At this point I'm close to shipping all my MikroTik hardware back and paying premium for a big box name that will just work. But would love to work through these issues.

Network:
CCRR1016-12S-1S+(router) over SFP+ to CRS317-1G-16S+(Switch) feeding RB4011iGs+5HacQ2HnD(AP) and 2x CRS328-24P-4S+RM(Switch)

firmware 6.45.7
All ports Bridged
Settings auto negotiate speed vs manual 10G full duplex no change
Loop protect default vs on port 9 speed increase from 3m to 22m
verified not a hot swamping issue
most ports with low speed through put only have slow downloads speeds but there upload is rock solid

Testing through put off network to ISP speed server and Ping tests to google dns plus pinging CRS and CCR. most ports with low speed have 100-300ms ping and heave loss. Ports with full speed lowing 1ms and full speed

CRS number 1:
CRS port 1 as WAN or root and 2-16 as LAN
Ports 1,2,3,5,6,15 full speed no loss
ports 4,10,12 high package loss
ports 7,/,9,11,13,14,16 low speed 1-22m

CRS number 2: TBA

If you swap connections between good and bad port (e.g. switch port 3 and port 4 connections by pulling out SFP modules and pushing them to the other port, attaching cables to the original SFPs (effectively moving client to the other port), does the problem remain on the same switch port (and thus affects different client) or does it move to different port affecting the same client?

I achieved these test results by using the same SFP the same client same computer on all ports between 2 and 16

I originally anticipated it was a hardware issue so I bought a second crs317 but this time the issues are present on most of the same ports will post detail test results soon. I've also retested this with multiple isps and multiple SFP and received the same results.

Issues present across 2 separate CRS-317-1G-16S+
I do not believe this is a hardware issue. This looks to be a Firmware issue.

will follow up with older firmware results and I have ordered in a MikroTik branded SFP AOC for more testing

Re: CRS317-1G-16S+RM SFP+ 50%+ SFP+ ports Slow speed High Loss  [SOLVED]

Issue resolved!

Found it to be the Aquantia AQtion SFP+ NIC cards.

Suspect a compatibility issue with either the SFPs that are Mikrotik compatible or between the Mikrotik and Aquantia.

Mind blown...

Thanks for all the help and every ones time!
