7.0b4 Becoming The New 7 Release?

Mon Dec 02, 2019 5:02 pm

It's cold outside? Have the dev's fingers frozen? Seems a new beta hasn't dropped yet and it's been a bit over a month. The monthly cadence is fine for me. Hopefully the next one will have some more meaningful features in it.

The only feedback I have is the new CLI is a bit strange to me.

They are actively developing v7. Perhaps they choose not to release every iteration to the public until there is a significant changelog. Personally I have found them to be very responsive and helpful.
And yes the CLI is a bit different to get used to.

I think it is in closed testing.

Is there any changelog?

I have been testing various LTE modems with v7 and was given access to debug some issues. At the time of download I do not believe there was a changelog.

But this is still far from complete. Especially the "routing" menu.
I don't think it is anywhere near a "generic release to replace 6.x".

And then of course we were all waiting for features that could not be implemented without a kernel update, but still are not present in the v7 beta.

When you say performs better, do you mean better throughput or more stable?

I have a pair of AC2's that are running as AP + bridge on 6.46 and they do drop out a fair bit wondering if it will help.
They're doing Vlans but at L2, I have a different device doing the routing.

Upgraded, had to enable wds static mesh before the Google homes would connect though (read it as a suggestion for wpa timeouts on another post)
