CRS326-24S+2Q+ reboots itself when logging in with web GUI

Tue Mar 03, 2020 3:17 am

Hello,

I have a brand new out of the box CRS326-24S+2Q+ which I loaded up in RouterOS then made it boot into SwOS. I can ping it at 192.168.88.1 and load the browser logging in with admin no password, but then it shows a fault light on the switch and I lose pings as it reboots itself.

I serial'ed into it and swapped it back to RouterOS, upgraded with 6.46.4 and upgraded the Routerboard as well, swapped it back to SwOS and it still reboots when I try to log into it. I reset it to no avail. I just programmed a different CRS326-24S+2Q+ and it worked fine but this one is giving me trouble.

Here is what I caught in putty while serial'ed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

UPDATE:

So I took the SFP modules out of the switch and it started working. I added them 1 by 1 and I can have 18 SFP modules plugged in and once I plug in the 19th SFP module the switch freezes, displays the fault in putty, and I lose pings. If I pull out the SFP for any port the switch starts working. I updated to 2.11 Firmware and have the same issue.

I am using some Fiber Store 1Gb modules which are brand new and they are: SFP-GE-BX. If I pull out one of those modules and put in a Mikrotik S+RJ10 module I still can't pass the 18 modules. I have tried different modules and different ports. I tried plugging in both PSU's. Still the same limit on the number of modules that can be sat in the switch...

I had another CRS326-24S+2Q+ here and just tried it and see the same results after inserting the 19th SFP module. If I boot into RouterOS both switches will work fine, it's only an issue with SwOS.

Here is what the SFP page looks like.

Thank you for sharing the details, we managed to observe the same issue locally and look forward to improving this on upcoming SwOS versions.

Unfortunately, the only possible workaround is to boot your device into RouterOS when using most of the SFP+ interfaces.

Thanks for the reply EdPa, do you guys have any kind of ETA on when the fix will be ready? Days, Weeks, Months?

Thanks again for confirming I'm not crazy!

It is hard to say any precise ETA, a new SwOS version usually gets released once or twice a year.
