+1111111111 for this.
Any news?
I'm switching from a RB5009 to a CHR but the missing SFP tab is a pain point that must be addressed, even just saying which exact Ethernet SFP card is supported if it's a problem of driver etc.
Currently my Intel X710 is seen just a normal Ethernet card, and it's a big limitation

As CHR runs in a virtual environment, all NICs/SFPs are managed by the host environment. When it comes to x86 'bare metal' setups, support for NIC drivers is limited.

That is not typically true in all circumstance. Like most of us do for nvme disk, you can directly assign them to the VM to have the maximum storage performance, and that's be easily done also for NIC.
But even with NIC in full PCIe passthrough, from VM and CHR you can just see it as normal ethernet card, so no SFP tab visible.

BTW, there is a list of supported NIC card that shows SFP tab with X86 installed directly on the system?

PCIe passthrough and IO-SRV require specially tailored drivers from the manufacturer, i.e. not something MT is involved with. Additionally, special APIs are needed to manage the driver, and these must be adopted by CHR for each new device to enable ROS management a scenario that probably won’t happen.
