Bandlimit I tried but it is not working

Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:25 pm

Version 6.47.7
Hi,

I tried to watch a lot of tutorials in how to limit the bandwidth for each port, or for each IP address in my network. But I tried a lot of times and it is not working.
Do you have any video or tutorial that really works with the version 6.47.7?
Please help me.
Thanks!!!

People I desactivate the fasttrack in IP Firewall and now it´s working when I define IP TARGET... but it still is not working when I define ETHER2 (example) target.
I want to put a bandwidith in a port, and not in a IP.
Can you help me? please?
Thanks!

6.47 is buggy and you will have better feedback if you post your config with an explanation as to why you want to limit ports.

Hmmm. is ether2 possibly part pf a bridge? If so, best you point to the bridge interface in simple queue

I just tested limiting ether1 on my router (which isn't part of the bridge) using a queue and it works as expected (1M up and down). If you limit the bridge, you limit all ports on the bridge AFAIK. I can also limit ether1 using a simple queue without marking.

But you can't limit a port that is part of the bridge - it gives an error message in mangle (thanks MT for making bad marking decisions even more obvious) and just doesn't work as a simple queue (all traffic goes through without a limit).

See the image. I think all my ports are in a bridge... how can I remove them?

/interface bridge port print
/interface bridge port remove numbers=

You haven't told us what you are trying to do. You can limit a client connected to a port by its address or a few ports by creating a VLAN for them.

I will try these commands tomorrow.
I want to limit the bandwith in a PORT and ALL clients behind it.
Example. I have a switch in port 2. I want all the switch traffic be limited, right?

/interface bridge port print
/interface bridge port remove numbers=

When you connect the switch, devices behind it get an ip address from the router's DHCP server. Make them static and add them to an address list, then limit the list with a queue. If it's a managed switch, limit its ip.
