802.3ad and DUP pings

Tue Jan 19, 2021 2:35 pm

Hi there,

I'm new to Mikrotik and recently bought a CSS326 (currently running RouterOS) and a couple of CSS610 (running SwOS).

I wanted to run a 802.3ad link between the CSS326 and the CSS610. I did this by creating a "bonding" interface set to 802.3ad on the CSS326 with the respective (2) etherxy interfaces as slaves. On the CSS610 I set both interfaces in the LAG tab to active.

The SwOS interface is not very verbose. The only feedback I got for this is there appears a "Trunk 1" in the Hosts tab and the trunk column on the Ports tab gets filled out with a "1" for the 2 interfaces. I assume, it "works".

What I noticed though:

When I ping hosts on or behind the CSS326 from a host on the CSS610, I get DUP ping replies (which disappear when pulling one cable). Strangely enough, this only happens for some stations and not all.

I'm still trying to debug this with packet capturing but so far, I fail to understand it.

Can anyone give me some points?

Hi! I'm having your same issue with a CSS610 that's doing LAG 802.3ad with a RB4011iGS+, as for you, LAG section on the switch lack of information, only Trunk 1 (assuming like you it's working); disabling LAG eliminate DUPs.
The CSS it's running 2.12rc2 and no update seams to be released (atm), and when it's setted on static IP, i'm having internet connectivity issue.

Re: 802.3ad and DUP pings  [SOLVED]

Just wanted to give a heads up here although it's been a while:

The issue was fixed with an update of the firmware (then provided by Mikrotik support as a beta but now officially released)
