CHR on VMware with two Xeon processors

Mon Mar 08, 2021 1:26 am

I am using CHR with vmware and it is running very well, but I have one doubts:
Purchase a poweredge server with two E5-2470v2 10-core processors with 2.4Ghz and 25M 8.0GT/s cache.
Can I set 19 cores on the CPU of the CHR virtual machine?
PS: Just remembering I have hyper-threading disabled

I am in doubt because as there are two processors, in this case the vmware would add the core of the two processors, and this can cost any problem in CHR?

There should be no problem but, what do you need so many cores for? What version of CHR are you running?

Thanks for the answer. My version is 6.48.1.
The reason for many cores is to move more bandwidth with low CPU in CHR.

Today I have 2Gb of link in BGP with CHR and this with 15% CPU.
I already worked on that same server, however it only had a 6-core processor, and I CHR gave 55% with 1.6Gb.
So I realized that the more cores and processor cache the better, CHR works with less CPU.

I am wrong?
