LHG 5 doesnt connect to WIFI (different networks) but scans normally

Sat Aug 21, 2021 12:26 am

Here is the deal:
I have got LHG 5 and plan to connect it to a WIFI network and provide internet to router via LAN cable connected to LHG.
I can scan and see WIFI networks in wireless interface dialog box.
However when i press connect nothing happens (i have chosen proper security profile and added proper WPA2 passwords etc)
In status box of wireless interface properties i see that scanning is performed through different channels, however wireless properties are set to exact frequency and 802.11)
Moreover when i tried quick setup CPE it also scans networks normally, but when I select any, WINBOX app freezes and i have to reload WINBOX app manually
I tested on multiple networks and problem is the same.

I am relatively new to Mikrotik's so would appreciate help, thanks

PS also maybe someone can show max possible Passive PoE parameters (the above was tested with 1m cable and works fine:) like max length of cable, max cable resistance, cable type etc for the supplied equipment (injector+adapter), as there is no direct info in docs i suppose

What device are you trying to connect the LHG to ?
also maybe someone can show max possible Passive PoE parameters
Depends on the cable quality...
In any case you can't exceed the maximum distance of the ethernet cable, which according to the standard is 100 m ...
There are ways you can extend the POE, using:

I tried to coonnect to multiple devices (for ex Asus RT-AC87U, some telecom brand , others) but behaviour is the same as well as WIFI standards...
As i told the most strange thing is that it freezes when you select a network in quick setup mode (even if you reset the device)

Passive POE normally is up to 30m, with cable of at least CAT5E, prue copper etc BUT I wanted to get recommended specs at least because injector and adpter are supplied together with LHG! And especially due to the fact that it doesnt work with 30m cable of such properties. But this is side question, main topic is why device doesnt connect to WIFI and proceeds with scanning, although in dedicated scan menu item all networks are found without any promblem

You should use station-pseudobridge mode...
If your device is already configured with the quick setup, you might need to reset your device before applying again your configuration...

Thanks for your responses, but
1) i used station pseudobridge mode before (with reset), configured security profile etc;
2) then just tried quick setup (with reset) and as you may see quick setup fails to configure as well as it freezes and i have to manually reboot winbox app, and nothing is written about it in log (that is accessible trough winbox)

therefore i mentioned 2 things in my initial question... both failed to connect

also i updated to the most recent release in advance, so it is not because of this

Try adding wpa-psk and TKIP ...
Test again...
