I have a small home network with a CRS326-24G-2S and two PCs, wireless access point, Internet enabled smart TV, printer, and a few portable devices. One PC is a home built PC with a ASRock B450M PRO4 motherboard with network interface on board. The other is a Dell Latitude 7290 plugged into a TB16 docking station. The home built PC gets bandwidth in the 900-950Mbps range on my Xfinity/Comcast Gigabit Speed Plan, Download speeds: up to 1200 Mbps, Upload speeds: up to 35 Mbps. The Dell only gets 150-200Mbps through the switch and 750-800Mbps when plugged directly into the the Xfinity xFi gateway. This is not going to work for me as I need to use the Dell for work, Zoom, etc.
I've swapped cables and ports between the PCs with the same results. Why would one NIC perform just as good connected to the switch as to the modem/gateway/router and the other NIC perform poorly behind the switch?
I've performed upgrades to both RouterOS, SwOS and tried both. Similar results.
Can you please point me to a tutorial on bandwidth testing and recommendations for tweaking setup to optimize speed. I can't seem to find this easily.
Thanks in advance!
