WIFI bridge & vlan

Thu Oct 07, 2021 9:57 am

Hi guys,

I'm facing an issue trying to do a wifi bridge. Here a little chart.

Image

I have differents vlans coming to my Ap. One vlan per SSID.
Eveything is working fine with my wifi clients (my Aps are ExtremeNetwork ).
But now, I need a temporary solution to bring the network to new office really close (30m). Of course i can't have wire, because not my building, so i can't drill... so bad :(

Then, i want to use Mikrotik Hap to make Wifi Bridge.
So i configured the wifi bridge as i do usually for my phone or at home. But with vlans it's not wroking the same. Sometimes my clients can have an ip adress, and the most of time not.
Kind of normal with 802.11 standard & L2.
There is trick for it ? Or Am i force to use WDS ? Or there is other solutions ?

Thanks for your help :)

It's quite likely you won't be able to make it using AP and client form different vendor as bridging is not standard 802.11 feature. You can read more about it in this article. Using different SSIDs for different VLANs doesn't change things much.
