Hello all. Is it possible to run this router directly from a 24v (preferred) or 48v DC supply? I want to use it on an off grid location powered by solar panels.

electrically speaking, the answer is Yes..
I don't thing Rackmount Devices have a wide Voltage-Ranges ,
So mesure the build-In Power-Supply to see what Voltage and Amps the Board wants...

Thanks ConnyMercier I have had a quick look at the PSU and the electrolytic capacitors are 35v rated which suggests the output voltage will be 24v. I will get it on the bench tomorrow and check voltage with meter. As to batteries panels etc I am a qualified electrician. But thanks for your warnings they might be of use to others.

Nope Connie qualified = taken the courses and passed them. As to mains power there is none nearby. Semi jungle area in Panama. Local houses solar powered.

LOL missed the joke I was up late last night and I am a bit tired 6 hours difference in UK and Panama time. I have the challenge of designing an off grid fiber network for a new eco village all off grid. Hence no local power.

What kind of availability does your network need to Provide, 90% ?

Aiming for 99.99% using 2 unconnected routes for fallover. My friend is over there collecting info for me, Then he will oversee the network build.

99.99% is a very respectable goal for a Offgrid-Solution!
