Just an other idea:
A lot of POS-Systems (Point of Sale) use the internal Power-Supply of the Computer
to power external devices. For exemple: cash drawer, payment terminal, Secondary Screens, etc...
If you have a Windows-Computer , you could use something like this (
https://www.ebay.de/itm/201672079821)
to power a 12V compatible Mikrotik device.
Exemple of your daily routine:
When you startup the "main" Computer in the Morning, it will power the Mikrotik Router.
And in the evening, you simply have to shutdown your computer via a "shortcut" on your desktop.
The shortcut will safely shutdown the Mikrotik-Device and follwed by the Computer.
Advantage:
- Always works! Even on holidays, weekends, etc..
- No additional Hardware required with Standby-Power or additional Power draw.
Disadvantage:
- Windows-Update may improperly shutdown your Mikrotik-Device
- If you need to reboot your PC during the day, all other devices will be offline for a couple of minutes.
