Can't get second guest bridge to route to WAN

Tue Oct 19, 2021 6:03 pm

Practicing for Alzheimer's. I've been using Mikrotik routers for many years, since the RB133. but as I get older and not need to modify configurations much, I've forgotten quite a bit.

I just purchased a hAP ac3 to use as the core for my new home network. I am trying to add a second LAN to support a guest network, both wired & wireless on ether2. I tried several of the configurations I found on this site & others, but nothing works. I set up a second bridge for the guest LAN. I can get DHCP set up but I can't get any access to the WAN on that subnet. If I move ether2 back into the main bridge, I have access, so the guest router is working.

I started with a clean factory reset, so there shouldn't be any old bogus configuration settings in there.

All routers are running 6.49
ether1 = WAN
ether2 = 192.168.11.0/24 connected to RB951Ui-2HnD
ether3 = 192.168.88.0/24 connected to RB951Ui-2HnD
wlan1 = 192.168.88.0/24
wlan2 = 192.168.88.0/241DHCP (2 pools/server) are on core router.

Default configuration works fine for ether3, 4, 5 & wlans.

Thanks in advance.

Practicing for Alzheimer's !!!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Can you Post your Config ?
Its probably a small mistake in NAT/Masquerade or DHCP-Server

@patintexas

You may want to remove sensitive info from your config-Post
# serial number = XXXXXXXXX
software id = XXXX-XXXX

Did you export your entire Config ?
I can't see any Routing,Firewall or NAT..

Hmm, looks like the file was truncated somehow. I'll try again.

This is the full file from the router. Maybe I'm using the wrong command to get the file. export file=foo?

Bingo! Thanks anav, I greatly appreciate your assistance. I guess I figured that this would work automatically because as I understand it all routes are operational unless they are defined as not.

Now I just need to put the rules to totally isolate the two subnets, at least I remember how to do that!

If you are ever in central Texas, drop in, I owe you a beer and a big plate of BBQ!

Peace,
Pat
