Trouble logging into MikroTik hAP ac² (that has been reset to factory defaults)

Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:55 pm

Hello guys

I recently bought a MikroTik hAP ac² RBD52G-5HacD2HnD-TC
The reason I got it is to load balance 2 LTE connections - I want to make full use of both connections 24/7

The problem I am experiencing is that even after I reset the MikroTik device, I can't seem to log into the device and that leaves me with no way forward

I have tried logging into the device default IP https://192.168.88.1 to no avail
I then tried to log into the device using WinBox on Linux through wine - this also seems to disallow me login

The error I get in WinBox is: "ERROR: wrong username or password"
I reset the device (and consequently need the default username: admin and password: *blank*)

I don't understand what to do now.
Is there anything I might be missing?

Thank you for your time, I really hope one of you might be able to get me going. It's either I make use of the MikroTik hAP ac² or I need to purchase another device from Amazon

Use netinstall to upload a current ROS Version and check the option to "Apply default config". If purchased from Amazon there is a chance that this device has had a alternate default config installed. This is best practice when not purchasing from a unreputable supplier.

How do you make connection to the device ?
Ethernet (which port, don't use eth1) or Wifi ?
What IP address does your PC get when connected ?

Those can also be indications if factory reset was applied or not.
Already tried the previous credentials too ?

Netinstall is the final option but should work.
