Fiber Optic Connector

Sun Oct 24, 2021 4:31 pm

Hi all,

Hope all is well.

I have this issue in CRS326-24S, I have 2 units and I want to test the connectivity between them to check the connectors and patch cords, but when I do that I can't reach the both units.
If I disconnect them, I can reach them.

May I know why.

Hmmm,
Maybe you are creating a Network-Loop
Try removing the SFP+ Port from the Bridge to do the Test.

If you need more Help, post the config of the Mikrotik device

Sorry for replying late.

Thanks ConnyMercier, it was loop as you said.

One more thing, when connecting two switches by same speed (1Gb to 1GB or 10Gb to 10Gb) Fiber Optic SFPs it goes well, but different speed (1Gb to 10Gb) doesn't.

Is it normal or should I do some configuration.

And thanks in advance.

If "Auto Negotiation" is enabled on the SFP or SFP+ Interface,
you can advertise several Speeds. For exemple 1Gbps and 10Gbps

So if the SFP-Counterpart only supports 1Gbps
The Devices will negotiate to a common Speed (in this case 1Gbps)
And communitation on the Link will be possible.

BUT if one device only advertise 1Gbps and the other device only 10Gbps,
No common Speed will be found so No-Link is possible.
