Hi guys
I never had issues with any device new or old performing upgrades and i've done it across multiple platforms from CCR to RB750, csr, etc
I even jumped from really old ROS and no issue whatsoever even on devices i actually prayed to fail so we can replace them with newer models.
But lately i had at least 3 devices which broke after the firmware upgrade.
So the procedure i always used:
1. Upgrade ROS to the long term or stable (6.58 or 49 in this case)
No device crashed after the RROS upgrade ... all worked without a problem
2. system routerboard upgrade to also upgrade the firmware, no error here, but after the reboot i had 3 devices that remained stuck in a rebooting loop
I had one old RB750GL - the update worked from 5.14 - > 6.40 flawlessly even the firmare. Update to ROS 6.49 was fine, but the firmware upgrade broke it
Same happened to other 2x RB2011 these were on Ros 6.47.x and 6.48.1. Worked after ROS and got bricked after firmware upgrade.
We tried to keep the reset button and plug in the power, but that did not help
Since those 3 failures (2 were clients and we had to replace with better devices on our dime) i am really reluctant to try upgrades on clients who have CCR1009 or other expensive devices
model: CCR1009-8G-1S
serial-number: 66C30589331B
firmware-type: tilegx
factory-firmware: 3.27
current-firmware: 6.48.1
upgrade-firmware: 6.48.5
Should we stop doing the firmware upgrade? Only update ROS?
What is the official position with these upgrade and how well are these actually tested?
Thank you
