Access with Windows 10 PC to MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS

Thu Nov 25, 2021 3:07 pm

I have purchased the
MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS
for our technical workshop (without internet connection)
to connect and test IP-Cameras and their controllers.

Ho can I access with my Windows 10 PC direclty connceted via CAT-Cable to the MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS ?
- My PC has DHCP enabled and I cannot reach via Browser with //192.168.88.1

Even if I use a Home Internet Router Zyxel GS1005HP (it works as DHCP server automatically),
I cannot reach via Browser with //192.168.88.1

My target is to set up DHCP
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/DHCP_Server

But I need to reach MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS first, to do so.

Use Winbox and connect to the router using the MAC address rather than an IP.
Or try connecting to port ether2 if you've been using port ether1, port ether1 is normally set as the WAN port in default setups.

Thanks, I can access with the Winbox now. :)

What do I have to do now to let the 2011UiAS act as stand alone DHCP Server?

This instruction is too complicated for me:

Without wanting to be unkind, if those instructions (especially the
/ip dhcp-server setup
bit which walks you through it) are too complex, you may be better off employing someone to do it for you.

If you know the subnet you want to use and which IPs in that subnet you want to hand out, just run the command above and plug in the values as explained in the docs and you should be fine.
That is assuming that you've got all the ports on a bridge of course, and you have the gateway IP set as the IP on the bridge.

Setting up a DHCP Server using the UI is actually more difficult than using the CLI as you need to configure 3 separate things in the UI before it works (IP pool, DHCP Network and DHCP Server).

/ip dhcp-server setup

Where exactly can I enter this code?

I would reset to default configuration.
Thanks, this has worked out :)
I can access now with the following PC's with https://192.168.88.1 to the 2011UiAS.
And the 2011UiAS works as DHCP Server:

I have attached

on EHTHER 2
a PC
---> 192.168.88.253 :)

on EHTHER 3
a PC
---> 192.168.88.254 :)

on EHTHER 3
an IP Videocamera with
static IP 192.168.1.188
---> I cannot reach it
---> What do I need to set-up at the 2011UiAS?

Solved with:
viewtopic.php?t=180799&e=1&view=unread#unread
Dynamic and Static IP MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS

Looking back, I wonder:

I had/have connected the PC with EHTHER 2.
(learned: not EHTHER 1)

a) First, I had tried to ping with Firefox/Chrome
https://192.168.88.1
That did not work out.

b) Then I could connect with the winbox Windows App

c) After this, I could/can,
connect with Firefox/Chrome
https://192.168.88.1
(without winbox).

Is this a typical behaviour that you need to install the Winbox App first and
only after this you can access via Browser to the MikroTik RouterBOARD 2011UiAS ?

No. Web browser access (called WebFig) is not dependent on having WinBox on your computer. Note that WinBox is far more useful than WebFig - and many of us block it.
