How to influence downstream traffic from my bgp peers

Wed Jan 05, 2022 8:08 pm

Hi guys.
Im currently running bgp with two upstream providers.
Currently I have only one /24 poublic subnet.
I have been using prepend to stear downstream traffic between my peers and can notice some unexpected behaviours.
Question is:
Is there any other possible/recomended bgp atribute to acomplish downstream manipulation ? (im reading bgp documentation).
Is there any way to balance downstream traffic between both peers ? (using only one /24 subnet).

Any advice / recomended doc would be wellcome.
regards.
Leandro.

The best way to influence traffic is to find out if your upstream has BGP communities to pref or de-pref routes.

Here is an example:
