WAN on VLAN?

Wed Apr 06, 2022 12:23 am

Hello!

Apologies if it's been asked plenty of times before, I did do a lot of googling but no dice.

Here is the gist of what I am trying to accomplish:
  • ISP #1 (Ziply) comes in on ether1, tagged VLAN 41
  • ISP #2 (Spectrum) comes in on ether2, tagged VLAN 40
  • Two VLAN (10, 20) and their own networks (172.16.0.0/12 && 10.0.0.0/16)
  • ether3 should be configured untagged 10, 20, 40, 41
No need to worry about actual upstream connectivity, ill handle that once this is sorted.

The idea is that downstream (ether3) will be able to grab IPs directly on either ISP's network, and just use VLANs from there.

What I have tried previously is to plug both ISPs into a managed switch and then tell the router to consider the VLANs as WAN ports (effectively router on a stick), but I had no success there either. I suspect that the problem lies somewhere in the many redundant ways to add a VLAN, but Mikrotik is new to me so I'm not sure.

This configuration is from a fresh device wipe. I didn't go through webfig since I have heard it breaks the install.

Any pointers?
