hAP AC3 + mANTBox 15s = Guest Network?

Wed Apr 13, 2022 7:28 pm

Hello,

we have a AC3 router and mANTBox 15s antenna.
Is it possible to organize normal + guest networks to work on the same mANTBox 15s antenna?

The router itself is located in an unreachable place, so its Wi-Fi cannot be used, that's why we have external antenna to cover a yard. And we would like to have the opportunity to have two separate networks. One for administrators' use with access to local network, and the other - Guest with access to Internet only.

Not very familiar with RouterOS ourselves, so setting it up is going to be another issue. But first thing's first gotta figure out if it is possible at all.

It sounds like the mant15 is just an antenna at 5ghz..............
I think you would need a router that had antenna connections to do anything fancy.
I am not sure how you would tie in the hapac3 with the antenna????

EDIT, you are in luck it appears one can connect external antennas!!

Is the Router placed very close to the antenna? My very basic knowlege of wifi and cabling is that the length of the antenna cable is CRITICAL.
The longer it is the poorer the signal (or conversely the higher the signal losses, and hence why the push and advantage for CPE+Antenna combined units.

IF not then perhaps you need something like the base box 5, if nothing else to convert the wifi signal to ethernet in situ (right next to the antennal).

Sorry for confusion, my mistake.
I actually meant mANTBox 15s, which is connected via Ethernet to the router.

Since Mantbox can be configured like any other ROS device (which it does, level 4 license), you can setup virtual wlan as Guest, put it in a separate vlan and of you go ...
Shouldn't be too hard.
