How to distribute bandwidth equally for an IP range?

Sun Apr 24, 2022 4:35 am

I have a number of devices that connect via a wireless access point, which have an ip range of 192.168.2.2 – 192.168.2.14. For this ip range I want the maximum total bandwidth to be 10mpbs to SHARE across all the devices. I never want the COMBINED bandwidth of all the device to exceed 10mbps. So if there is 1 device connect it will receive all 10mbps, but if another device joins they will get 5mbps each. If 10 devices join they will get 1mbps each. Please note this setup is different to the simple queuing rules and I can’t find a way to achieve this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

A PCQ configuration would do what you are after - specifically with a pcq-rate of 0 and max rate of 10mbps, should mean it shares it around equally as more users try to use the queue.

I don't see how I would do that for an ip range of say 192.168.2.2 – 192.168.2.14. The examples I have seen tend to do it for a specific ethernet port.

For what I have understand, what you literally have described is not directly available until you do not hire one programmer for make the necessary scripts for do exactly what you described.

@rextended, not helpful! Go clean som spam or don't reply at all!

Hi @tommydog, welcome to the forum! You will find a lot of examples if you google "mikrotik fair share queues". If you are using ros v7, I recommend you to check out cake / fq_codel which is easy to set up and maintain.
