RB960PGS + Sierra EM7455 LTE Modem failed

Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:10 am

Hi there,

I am trying to establish lte connection on my RG960PGS HeX Router.
I connected Sierra Wireless Modem EM7455 to router and It is visible in System ->Resources ->USB also lte interface is available in interface list.
Modem is connected to router via "3G/4G Module USB adapter"

I've upgrade modem firmware to SWI9X30C_02.33.03.00.
Actually Router is on 7.3 mibsbe OS version but I was tried also on 7.1beta2 and 7.1beta6. Packages and routerboard updated to newest version.

Problem with modem failed status on lte interface.
I am newbie with LTE and mikrotik so my question is did I need to make some initiation for this modem or any other setting.

I didn't use that same exact hex and modem, but usually there is no need for additional settings.
Just APN for SIM card if required, SIM in proper slot if multiple slots exist, etc. some tricks here: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... at_command

I just had a same thing "modem failed" today and yesterday on v 7.9.1 chateau D53G-5HacD2HnD, with modem RG502Q-EA rev. RG502QEAAAR13A02M4G
Reboot helped but nothing else seems to help when it happens.

Modem might be overheating, presently at 41C. If it helps anyone I'm using /interface lte at-chat lte1 input="AT+QTEMP"
Chateau health menu doesn't provide any temp sensors, so I activated lte debugging to see if anything specific is reported by the modem prior to failing.
