ISP speed is 100 MB but dlink dap 1360 speed is 20 MB

Fri Jun 24, 2022 3:06 pm

Hello My friends ..
I have the fantastic router Mikrotik RB4011iGS+RM ... months ago ,, and my network is very stable ..
I have an Internet speed 100 MB / 20 MB ...
When I bought the Mikrotik and connected throught it I got speed 50 / 15 as maximum with Router system OS 6.49.
with the router, The problem is the download is only 50 on the distance 10 meters and the download is only 20 on the distance 50 meters despite two switches on the distance of 50 meters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
is there any solution to get the same 100 MB from Mikrotik on distance 50 meters ?

What do you mean with "on the distance X meters"???
You can test the speed only when using a cabled connection (max 100M) directly to the router. Do you get the correct speed then?
Measuring via WiFi is measuring your WiFi speed, not your ISP speed.

rb4011 ===(8 meter cable)====switch=====(50 meter cable)===switch===dlink dap 1360

connected by wifi 1 meter from the dlink dap 1360, I receive 20M despite my ISP is 100M away

Start debugging it step by step. Connect by cable to the router and test. Connect by cable to first switch and test. Connect by cable to second switch and test.

when I do the cable test at the first switch, I get 95M

You didn’t do as advised. First do a test with your computer connected directly to a port on the 4011. What speed? Then connect the switch to the 4011 and then connect directly to the switch. What speed? Then connect the second switch to the first switch and connect your computer directly to the second switch. What speed?

here is

Test on the RB4011 port, I get 95M

Test on the 1st switch, I get 95M

Test on the 2nd switch, I get 87M

NB:
rb4011 ===(8 meter cable)==== first switch
when I do the cable test at the first switch, I get 95M

=====(50 meter cable)===second switch===
when I do the cable test at the first switch, I get 87M

Ok so your problem is not in the MikroTik.
It could be in the dlink dap 1360 or in the wifi link (e.g. interference) at that location.

test directly the pc at the end of 50m cable without use the 2nd switch
if you got 95M (the max speed for a 100Mbit cable), the problem is 2nd switch,

if you got less, change the port on first switch where the 50M cable start,
if you got the same, the problem is the cable, probably the wire on the plug are on wrong order,
or the cable is ruined, or is unshielded and run too close to other power cables.

But just another question.... on first switch... how many other users consume bandwidth???......

almost all routers have the same problem, how to fix it?

at the moment there is only one user limited to 1m/1m.

1st switch ==== (cable 50 meters)==== PC, I get the 87M

Have you tried another cable of the same length just for fun? 87 mbps might be about right considering the cable length is half the maximum recommended of 100M.

Still far better than the 20mbps you were getting. I think your wifi device is misconfigured or time for a new one.

I just wish people would post the issue they are having and ask for a config sanity check or whatever instead of immediately blaming MikroTik. Not that MikroTik doesn’t have faults or issues but but the number of times I’ve seen people blame MikroTik only to be proven wrong is insane.

It is because we appreciate mikrotik we are here to take information from experienced people.
Whether the problem is mikrotik or not, we continue to learn in life.

I believe it is a weakness to change the title of my subject when one is powerful one is transparent I believe it is not the case for the administrators of the forum of mikrotik.

Ball on the ground, the best and the experienced will help me humbly.

Thanks.

Definitely true.
Whether the problem is mikrotik or not, we continue to learn in life.
Absolutely ! A day without learning (whatever) is a day wasted, the way I see it.
I believe it is a weakness to change the title of my subject when one is powerful one is transparent I believe it is not the case for the administrators of the forum of mikrotik.
No because your title was clearly misleading as was your initial assessment and testing.
And the moderator was pretty transparent on who changed it and why.
Unless you are referring to other occurrences, then you should put proof on the table before making such generic statements.
Ball on the ground, the best and the experienced will help me humbly.
Being provided with clear points where you were wrong and ways to correct those misviews, it should also be accepted humbly.
Live and learn.

As for the answer to your real problem, that's way out of context for this place.
Surely if someone could, they will provide a solution.
But personally I'd get rid of that dplink. Replace it with a small and cheap Mikrotik you seem to appreciate so much ? :D
Thanks
You're most welcome.
