wAP Lr8: Receiving LoRaWAN packets with very low SNR

Tue Jul 19, 2022 6:26 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm using a mikrotik wAP lr8 device as a gateway to redirect lorawan traffic to the network server of "the things Stack", however, the coverage range of this gateway with the LoRa module connected to the external antenna is very low. Having the devices (Heltec Cubecell) less than 4 meters away, the SNR is between 7 and 10 dB. As coverage tests are carried out at a greater distance, the SNR reaches very small values below 0 or it does not receive any packets at all. The configuration is as follows:

channel-plan=eu-868
antenna-gain=6dBi
forward=crc-valid, crc-error
network=public
lbt-enabled=no
listen-time=5000us
rssi-threshold=-65dBm
band=863-870

radio settings:

0 name="LoRaWAN_TFG" type=SX1257 center-freq=867500000 rssi-off=-162 tx-enabled=yes tx-freq-min=863000000 tx-freq-max=870000000

1 name="LoRaWAN_TFG" type=SX1257 center-freq=868500000 rssi-off=-162 tx-enabled=no tx-freq-min=0 tx-freq-max=0

Cubecell maximum tx power: 22 db +/- 1 dB
Around there is nothing that operates in the same band, so I do not understand why this happens.
