How to increase remote connection security

Fri Jul 29, 2022 12:22 pm

Hello, everyone! I want to consult with you.
I am going to be working remotely next week and when I look for information on how to make the connection more secure I found this article https://www.helpwire.app/blog/how-to-ch ... ktop-port/ and it says that RDP uses port 3389 by default and if I change it then the connection will be more secure.
Please tell me, have you tried this method?

IMHO, any attempt at such port remapping is pointless. The new port number is determined very quickly and the penetration attempt continues. It is highly recommended to use VPN to access internal network resources.

Concur, setup a wireguard connection from your smartphone or laptop to your home/work router.

Tell me about it !
Inheritance from previous IT manager at client I work for and we had bingo 2 years ago.

Luckily the ransomware was only able to infect backup legacy servers.
A restore solved all that.
But then hunting down all open RDP ports he left, even some connected to user accounts WITHOUT password.

Some IT Manager that was ...
