Audience wlan3 APtoAP stability issues

Tue Aug 02, 2022 12:01 am

Randomly (once an hour) the wlan3 link will go down for a very random reason.
The Client AP will start doing a background check, then up to 10 seconds later, it will try to reassociate, which leads to around 12 lost pings on the clients, then all is well.
But why on earth in the first place is it doing that...

Here are some logs:

Indeed station-roaming was enabled, I've changed it to "disabled" and indeed the manual clearly describes that the background scan is a sub-function of station-roaming setting.
In Winbox this is only visible in "advanced settings", should again someone wonder where do I find this.

If someone with good google-fu finds this thread in the future, here is the link to the Manual:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... on-Roaming

As this config was attempted with the Push-button of the Audience (just to try it), this is the DEFAULT, which isn't optimal...
@normis and MTik support in case you're reading this post - maybe discuss with your Dev team to create a script and probe when there are multiple MESH devices in the config and just then enable the roaming part. If it's a Point-to-Point WiFi, even creating the Virtual Wireless doesn't bring any advantage IMHO.
