I am using Port Isolation to create discrete segments within the Switch. Due to the nature of the network I am testing, the same MAC address can appear as an associated Host on duplicate ports, although in different segments. Despite the ports being in separate segments, this situation seems to confuse the switch. Packets received with one segment are not being forwarded to the port in the same segment with which the MAC address is associated. If I disconnect the port in another segment that has the same MAC address associated with it (i.e. removing the duplication) then everything works as expected.
I had hoped to avoid introducing a separate hardware device into the environment, as the flexibility to easily reconfigure with SWOS is a significant benefit for my testing.
Is my expectation of the isolation between ports in different segments reasonable, or is there some other way to achieve this?
Thanks in advance
