RB5009 hw or sw problem "Flapping" 2.5 Gbe PORT

Tue Aug 23, 2022 6:37 pm

Goodmorning everyone

I've got a problem with my RB5009 and the 2.5 gbe port. IT's connected to a QNAP (x86) nas with a 2.5 gbe port, and after an hour or less the speed connection will decrese to 1Gbit and the port star "flapping" (continuosly disconnect after an amount of time), sometimes I need to reboot the have access to the NAS.

Any idea ?
No problem with the other 1 gbit classic port so the nas doesn'have problem. Same problem with other device connected to the same 2.5 gbe port also.
test al fw and latest rc.

I also send a ticket to mk .

thx

Hi,

which version are you using? I have experienced the same issue with ROS 7.5beta8. My 2.5G port was connected to my provider modem 1G port.
I don´t have access currently to my rb5009 so I can´t test it with the latest RC.

I can confirm the problem. Currently I can't get the router to start. The router stops completely with the 2.5G LED flashing rapidly.

I have tried every reset possibility. The router always ends up in this flashing mode from the 2.5G port.
The problem is apparently common when using google.

I have tried
Set 2.5G port to 1G.
Set CPU to 1400Mhz.
Not tried yet - cpu flow controll (login no longer possible)

@Mikrotik: Do you have a solution?

I have now opened an RMA ticket at my shop Getic. I have no chance to reach the device at the moment.
All resets end in a permanent blinking ETH1 interface. It gets stuck there and nothing happens.

Did you try to boot from backup bootloader?
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:RouterBOOT
But read carefully: "Note: If you hold the [reset] button before applying power, backup RouterBOOT will be used"

Tried it myself - it is a bit tricky but managed it to work.
Primary loader was on 7.5, backup booted on 7.2 which is the factory default on my RB5009UPr+S+.

  • The first complaint of this video is the reset button and the barely visible user LED. This is the same for the 5009UG and the 5009UPr. I mentioned it before.
  • Using Airguns, and fans is standard engineering practice
  • I am using the 2.5G Port in 1G mode only, so I cannot comment on specific issues.
  • My RB 5009UG was running fine at ambient temperature of up to 33C throughout the summer. No issues at all.
  • This guys seems to have a defective part, this can happen.
  • These are not normal times.
