Very long wifi boot up time on Omnitik 5 ac

Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:37 pm

Hi,

I bought an omnitik 5 ac.
My problem is when i powering up the router it takes around 10-15 minutes to be able to connect it via wi-fi and other 1 minute to get through on the authentication.
What am i doing wrong? Or this is default with this router?

Maybe i did set up in the wrong way. This is way more complicated than anything i met before.
I would like to use it as an ap for a tp link poe switch.
Can anyone help me how should i setup this thing?
My goal is simple i would like to connect the router to the switch with 192.168.0.x ip address. Everything else what connected to the switch is within this ip range.
The setup:
The switch powering up the router with 48v poe in the first ethernet slot and nothing else plugged in to the router. There is a poe dmx node pluged in to the switch next to the router.
Thank you
Regards Daniel

Probably is the DFS

Do not use "auto" but select the Frequency 5180, and Channel Width 20Mhz for try...

If you set "Skip DFS channels" to "10min CAC" , you will at least avoid checking the weather-radar channels (5600-5620-5640 , which take 10 minutes per scan, the other DFS channels take 1 min radar check.) This check action is visible in the Status TAB of the 5GHz WLAN.
If skipping all DFS channels is selected, there might be no selectable channels left. (e.g. Europe with installation=outdoor)
5180-5200-5220-5240 are non-DFS but "indoor only", and an Omnitik 5 ac can only be set to installation=outdoor. All this only in region=etsi (Europe).

For best performance, you should indeed not be using "auto", but should handpick the best channel and channelwidth.

Thanks @bpwl

right,
I use OmniTik only outdoor with other MT devices as CPE, and I do not notice that do not have "indoor" selectable channels for standard devices.
