Intra-Routerboard RADIUS communication using VLANs

Mon Sep 05, 2022 4:52 pm

Hi all,

I would like to be able to receive WiFi connections on one routerboard, then pass EAP-TLS requests to a system that is connected to another routerboard which is using VLANs. I have tried to figure this out for some days now, to no avail.

Any sort of list of commands how you guys would tackle such a problem would really be great. The setup looks like this:

Routerboard 1:
-Has PC connected on ETH3
-PC on ETH3 has RADIUS Server installed. DHCP IP is: 172.20.129.100
-ETH3 is using VLAN ID 10
-VLAN ID 10 has address 172.20.129.45
-A bridge exists with ports ETH3 and ETH2.
-ETH2 is the connection to routerboard 2

Routerboard 2:
-Receives WiFi connection
-Should pass through EAP-TLS authentication to PC on Routerboard 1
-Has RADIUS configured at 172.20.129.100
-The only log message that appears is: 802.1x authentication timeout

As stated above, I would like to connect a wireless device to Routerboard 2, the authentication shall then be passed on to the PC on ETH3 on Routerboard 1.
Unfortunately, I do not even seem to be able to ping Routerboard 1 coming from Routerboard 2 (ping 172.20.129.45 yields timeout)

Thanks and regards
