netPower 16P - power source

Thu Sep 08, 2022 2:47 am

I will be powering multiple 60GHz Mikrotik products on a tower, I see the netPower 16P comes with the proper DC blocks for 18/2 powering, but what external switching power supplies work with it?

These indicate outdoor. I have a fully generated power source with backup in a building below the tower. Is this indicated installing a standard plug on one side and connect it to 18/2 on the other end? If so that works all the same for me.

Install a plug or hardwire to A/C power and 12/2 dc wire for the amperage and distance.

You can use any 24V xA
But your power source can provide at least 16W (1,5A) just for power the netPower.
For each 60GHz device, you must add the wattage used from that device.
For example, with 18V 2A power source (max 36W) you have only 20W for devices.
One CubeSA 60Pro ac use 13W, then you can only power one 60GHz device of this type.

For use, for example, 10 CubeSA 60Pro ac, you must have 130W of power (~7,23A @ 18V)
You need at that point one power source than can provide 7,23 (60GHz) + 0,89 (netPower) = ~9A @ 18V
Also, you can not use same 8 port group for power 8 devices and leave free the other, because the max A for single 8-port PoE group is 5,6A

If you use "standard" 24V, the problem is solved, because for have same power, less A is required. (~6,09A @ 24V)

so I think then, since I can keep it in a good clean environment, this is a good option and connect it with 12/2 Romex to the top of the tower.
