QRT2 vs LHG XL 52 ac

Fri Sep 16, 2022 9:20 am

Greetings !
PtP link, around 800m - 1km, some trees in between.
Currently using 2x QRT2 but I'm not getting satisfying results.
If I switch to 2x LHG XL 52 ac, if all other condition remain unchanged, can I expect better results ?
Thanks

Justify your opinion.
Antenna gain 17dBi -QRT2, 18dBi -LHG XL 52ac. Output power 30dBm -QRT2, 26dBm -LHG XL 52ac

QRT2
very old HW, old antenna technology, weak CPU, small RAM, only 2,4Ghz
MIPSBE 600 MHz 1 CORE
RAM : 64 MB
Standard: IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n
Antenna: 17 dBi (2,4 GHz)

LHG XL 52 AC
best from MT for long distances at the moment, new CPU, more RAM, WIFI 5,4 and 2,4 Ghz

ARM Cortex A7, 716 MHz, 4CORE
RAM : 256 MB
Standard: IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac
Antenna: 27 dBi (5 GHz), 18 dBi (2,4 GHz)

Update on this topic:
Bought 2x LHG XL 52 ac, installed them instead of QRTs.
5GHz is working like a dream, I'm getting cca 500Mbit reported link through trees and foliage (real life bandwidth is around 150Mbit TCP and 220Mbit UDP, with bandwidth tool). I'm very satisfied because I was under the impression that 5GHz will struggle.
I still haven't tested 2GHz link, to see if it's the same or worse than QRT2.

Few questions:
1. Keep them on 6.49.7 or upgrade to 7.8 ?
2. How to properly setup bonding ? I would like to use both links bonded, to further expand bandwidth and to have backup link in case one goes down.

Thanks

EDIT: I've just tested 2GHz link. Best case - it's the same as QRT, not better at all. Same signal strength, similar throughput - even a bit lower (few Mbits).

Hi,

I would definitely upgrade... I hate devices with old SW without development... ROS v6 is ending.
