R11e-LTE6: how to switch to MBIM and boot to full power mode?

Sat Sep 24, 2022 1:49 am

Hi,

I just installed a R11e-LTE6 card to my linux laptop and I noticed that by default the modem boots to "airplane mode" (AT+CFUN=4), and every time I want to use it, I manually need to issue AT+CFUN=1. This is the first and only modem I have ever seen to do this, so I hope there is an AT command which will turn this annoying and unneeded behavior off. I am asking here as this command is not documented, at least not on the official documentation pages.

The second annoying thing is that this modem by default boots to RNDIS mode. First question is: how to switch this to MBIM? Another hidden AT command? And third: why does the modem issue internal IPs (from the range 192.168.1.0/24) on the RNDIS interface instead of the IP it receives from the mobile operator? Another AT command to change this behavior as well?

Would be lovely to get some answers to these questions.
