wifi gate

Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:31 pm

Hello!
I have wifi in my building, so I want to connect Mikrotik to this network and connect my laptop to Mikrotik by wire.
My wifi open network has no authorisation, perhaps use login/password and store MAC.
I set interface wifi1 in Mikrotik, scanned wifi band, connected it to the network, added dhcp-client on wifi1 interface,
now I see 10.x.x.x ip in wifi1.
What is the next step with eth2, which I use to connect my laptop?
I tried to link dhcp-server to eth2, than ip->firewall and setup NAT with MASQUERADE and OutInterface->wifi1, but failed.
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

It really depends on what you need from your Mikrotik.

If you do not need making anything on your router the easier way to make that work could be:
1) Create a bridge interface
2) Add all interfaces to that bridge (or at least wlan1 and ether2).
Optional: 3) You can also add the DHCP client on the created interface bridge.
That should work. But your router now only bridges the WiFi and your PC.

If that is not what you need, your config should be fine, but I want to know more info (if your laptop gets an IP).
And please try to post your config too. Before adding you config look to viewtopic.php?t=45259

Hope that helps even a little :)
