Hap ac3 VPN problem

Sun Nov 06, 2022 6:17 pm

Hello. I have Hap ac3 with LTE port. I want to setup VPN on it. But can`t.
Internet is from LTE card. LTE is my only one WAN to internet.
And i see that my IP address in network is different as in Mikrotik. It looks like Mikrotik don`t got public IP from celular operator but got private address from NAT.
So it is reason that can`t setup VPN.

So any idea how to setup it ?

LTE operators dont provide public IPs, or you have special contract?

If the other end of the VPN tunnel doesn't have a public address either, you need a device that does - then both your VPN peers would connect to that third device and it would route the traffic between them.

You have the following possibilities:
  • run a virtual machine on a public address in a datacenter (so something like $6 per month),
  • agree with a friend who is more lucky and has got a public IP address, and has a router flexible enough to support such a configuration,
  • use Zerotier, which is supported in RouterOS 7 on ARM devices
