SFP Vdsl module

Fri Dec 02, 2022 10:51 pm

HI
I'm going to setup a internet access via VDSL (200/20Mbits D/U)
the connection will not be via fiber, but via twisted pair, so I'll need a modem

Instead of using a poor modem I'd preferr to use an SFP VDSL module in a mikrotik router, like an HEX S.or better a RB2011UiAS-IN

does anybody have tested/is using such a solution ?
Is there any suggested SFP modem to be used in a mikrotik router ?
Is there any compatilbility list for SFP modems ?

Thank you verymuch for any information.

SFP modules are known here for bad performance and unreliability…

I’m using the DrayTek Vigor 165 Modem with my customers. It supports 35b supervectoring mode up to 300Mbit.

I think that the VDSL SFP modules do not support 200Mb down, only up to 100Mb. The proscend 180T however worked fin on 100Mb. But 200Mb is not supported. 200Mb can actually be delivered using higher frequencies on the line (even shorter reach than the 100Mb variant) OR with line bonding (2 lines with 100Mb each + some specific bonding implementation in the modem.

As recommended before go for a traditional external modem and consult with your ISP for what is recommneded
