RouterOS 7 on RB600 and RB800

Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:12 pm

Those models refuse to boot after netinstall V7.6
I suppose there is an issue with bootloader firmware

Any hint or howto ?
Is it possible anyway ?

Thanks

To successfully boot v7, routerboot (bootloader) has to be upgraded to recent version. I'm not sure if netinstall does it (I'm guessing it doesn't).

So go back to some decently recent ROS v6 and update routerboot. Then netinstall units to v7 again.

I don't know if latest v6 has RouterBOOT that supports v7, but when I tested it with also PPC RB333 and 6.49.2, which was latest at the time, it didn't:

Well, in brief on my RB800 :

/system routerboard print

look for firmware type firmware-type: mpc8544

Download 7.8 (current) .npk for ppc from Mikrotik site

Open .npk with 7-zip and look for mpc8544-7.8.fwf file into etc folder.

Extract and copy it into "files" section of your RB800

/system routerboard upgrade

reboot

Now you can upgrade RB800 to 7.8 (current) ROS, I've done it via netinstall.
