RB2011UiAS-IN vs RB2011UiAS-RM

Wed Dec 07, 2022 12:42 pm

Hi everyone,

I have easy question for which I was not capable to find answer.
Even on Internet and even in my lab, because I only had RB2011UiAS-RM and RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN (not the RB2011UiAS-IN).

Is there any possibility from winbox or ssh, to find if the router is rackmount (RM) or the smaller one (IN).
In System->Resources->Board Name (RB2011UiAS) and the same System->RouterBOARD->Model (RB2011UiAS).
I am not sure if there is any way to find if the RB2011 is rackmount or not.

Those are outputs from my RB2011UiAS-RM:
uptime: 1d16h9m48s
version: 6.48.6 (long-term)
build-time: Dec/03/2021 12:15:05
factory-software: 6.46
free-memory: 91.6MiB
total-memory: 128.0MiB
cpu: MIPS 74Kc V4.12
cpu-count: 1
cpu-frequency: 600MHz
cpu-load: 2%
free-hdd-space: 104.2MiB
total-hdd-space: 128.0MiB
write-sect-since-reboot: 6143
write-sect-total: 22427
bad-blocks: 0%
architecture-name: mipsbe
board-name: RB2011UiAS
platform: MikroTik

routerboard: yes
model: RB2011UiAS
revision: r3
serial-number: xxxxxxxxxxxx
firmware-type: ar9344
factory-firmware: 6.47.10
current-firmware: 6.47.10
upgrade-firmware: 6.48.6

Thank you a lot.

If it was only between RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and RB2011UiAS-RM, you could look whether it has wifi or not. But also wifi-less RB2011UiAS-IN would need something different.

Thanks a lot for you reply Sob.

Good point, but actually even the RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN shows these results:
         uptime: 2h40m42s
                  version: 7.6 (stable)
               build-time: Oct/17/2022 10:55:40
         factory-software: 6.46.2
              free-memory: 74.4MiB
             total-memory: 128.0MiB
                      cpu: MIPS 74Kc V4.12
                cpu-count: 1
            cpu-frequency: 600MHz
                 cpu-load: 2%
           free-hdd-space: 107.7MiB
          total-hdd-space: 128.0MiB
  write-sect-since-reboot: 1885
         write-sect-total: 13428
               bad-blocks: 0%
        architecture-name: mipsbe
               board-name: RB2011UiAS-2HnD
                 platform: MikroTik

       rotuterboard: yes
             model: RB2011UiAS-2HnD
          revision: r3
     serial-number: xxxxxxxxxxxx
     firmware-type: ar9344
  factory-firmware: 6.48.6
  current-firmware: 6.48.6
  upgrade-firmware: 7.6
So you can see that is not RM, because of -2HnD on the end of model (board-name). As far as I know the rackmount version is not produced with Wi-Fi.

5 version of RB2011 without rackmount: without poe and no wifi (RB2011L), with poe but no wifi (RB2011iL),
with more memory, gigabit, usb, etc. (RB2011UAS), like the previous with poe (RB2011UiAS) and the previous with poe and wifi (RB2011UiAS-2HnD)

the only rackmount version is the RB2011UiAS-RM without wifi.

The RB2011UiAS rackmount have MAC E4:8D:8C:xx:xx:xx
The RB2011UiAS desktop version MAC 4C:5E:0C:xx:xx:xx

I wouldn't count on MAC addresses, it's probably just that one of your devices is newer than other. My guess is that they start to use new range when they exhaust previous one. E.g. at the beginning, for a long time, everything I remember had 00:0C:42:xx:xx:xx.
