hAP ac2 impossible 5GHz wifi

Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:20 pm

So I just got this new AP and noticed 5GHz wifi is not working. Then I saw some detecting radar crap. The only frequency that works is one that's already used by the neighbours so that's not good, is it. How do I switch this crippling "feature" off? I need clean 80 Mhz 5G channel, that's why I bought this. Thanks

Depending on your location, DFS is mandatory on many channels. Did you try waiting 10 minutes? If a channel is really clean it will start working after the initial listening period.

Try to set the 5 Ghz interface like so:

In addition to the post of @inteq:
  • Set the country code
  • Enable WMM Support
As mentioned, DFS requires some patience (up till 10 minutes) during startup.

One intermediate step is to set "Skip DFS channels" to "10min CAC".
This will avoid the "weather radar channels" that require the 10 minutes silence and listen before start, and still allow the 1 minute "silence and listen" DFS channels to be choosen.

In alot of EU counties airports are really close to the major cities. I live in Sofia and our airport is pretty close. The distance from my home is like 1-2 km and you can hear pretty loud when big planes take off.

Well a country like Belgium is 100% covered by 4 weather radar.

The major problem however is false positive DFS activation, even in your basement. Signal coming from a nearby wAP triggers the DFS detection quite often, even with a 280MHz offset in frequency, as seen with "Snooper".

https://www.wirelessinfo.be/wifi-wetgeving/
In fact, weather radars and other radars operate on the frequency band 5600-5650 MHz. And weather radars transmit a power of 250 Kwatt. (250,000 watts). The radius of these weather radars has a range of 250 Km. Every 10 minutes the weather radar makes one rotation and this signal can be seen from far away.
Not by human eyes, but by our access points that are always scanning for radars. I will show you further on this presentation a radar detection.
There are four weather radars in Belgium, so it would surprise me that an outside point to point link would not detect these signals.

Radar detection on Mikrotik is simple broken, i cannot use it on any location, it detects it self as radar basically...Put any other vendor on same location it never detects radar(there arent any in fact).
