ROS 7.6 and OSPFv3

Sun Jan 22, 2023 4:45 am

I recently migrated a network to ROS 7.6. IPv6 recursive routing now works, yay. Unfortunately there is now a new issue and that's some PTP links are randomly dropping out of OSPFv3. So this effectively renders IPv6 BGP over OSPFv3 useless.

Nothing else has changed. The PTP OSPFv3 routes worked with ROS 6.48.6 LTS. Furthermore, I can't narrow it down to something in particular because the config of the affected ones is identical to ones which are still working. In other words its random.

When this happens - sometimes removing and reinserting the entry in interface-templates works. Sometimes a router restart fixes it. But this is only temporary. Typically within a day or two its failed again.

Example config:
add area=backbone-v3 comment=Cogent disabled=no interfaces=vlan204 passive type=ptp
and another router:
add area=backbone-v3 disabled=no interfaces=[name redacted - this is also a vlan interface] passive type=ptp

FWIW we adopt the same config, only adding a network value, in OSPFv2 / IPv4. At this time this seems to have no issues,

These are both CCR2004's with ROS 7.6.
