Static Routing with Internet gateway

Tue Mar 07, 2023 5:24 pm

Hello,

Here's the scenario of a proposed network -->

1) We took an upstream connection from Internet gateway company.
2) They peer with our core router with local IP (10.10.10.x)
3) They allocate a public IP block for us (x.x.x.x/29), which is assigned in LAN side of our core Mikrotik router.
4) From Core router we connected two more Router (A & B), both MikroTik.
5) Both Router has public IP (owned by us), block1 and block2
6) Router A & B need to provide internet access through the core router.

Question is -- how to do it the easiest way without implementing any BGP routing? I mean can we do that with just static routing?

Here's the concept of the network which I described above -->

Ignoring the x.x.x.x/29 public IPs block given by your ISP, the correct way, if you do not want use BGP &Co. also internally,
is to publish your own two /30 block on main EDGE router.
The edge router can not have any IP of the two /30 block and you can use all 8 IPs on different machines (or multiple VMs on single real machine)
distributing it individually for each router.

And the same is valid for the other 8 IPs provided from ISP.
